Jason Wetsel | President & CEO

Work Experience Prior to Joining Wetsel Financial

Jason thrives in all areas of small business and received his first business license at 14 years old. Prior to founding Wetsel Financial, Jason successfully owned and operated several businesses ranging from Industrial Ultrasound to a Poultry Export Business.

A true believer in applied education, Jason completed his undergrad and graduate degrees while simultaneously running two companies. Recognizing the need for people to have comprehensive personalized investment advice, he became a financial advisor in 2006 and founded Wetsel Financial in 2011.

Role at Wetsel Financial

Jason directs portfolio allocation for custom and model portfolios. He develops and monitors client’s financial plans, tax plans, and ERISA employer plans. Jason strives to find unique solutions for clients working with their legal and tax advisors. He has assisted on many business sales and is focused on having a long-term exit plan for entrepreneurs.

When Not In the Office

Jason and his lovely wife Kristi have been married for over 20 years and in 2013, they welcomed twin boys. They enjoy anything outdoors: boating, skiing, and off-roading. Jason is an avid fisherman and is most happy on a stream somewhere. Jason and Kristi have a huge heart for charity. They love to support and volunteer with many organizations, with an emphasis on helping children flourish.

Work Experience Prior to Joining Wetsel Financial

Shelle has a broad practice in the financial world, primarily in administration and compliance. She has dedicated her career to helping clients, with integrity and sincere regard for the client’s goals. Shelle is a people person who believes that customer support and service should be a top priority in any organization. She started her career in an administrative position and went on to hold roles as an Operations Manager, titled Compliance Analyst and Branch Administrative Manager. Shelle has experience in overseeing the daily operations in a branch office setting as well as surveillance of activity within an organization. Her responsibilities have included monitoring firm employee trading and upholding the limited dissemination of information across business lines, such as research and investment banking. She also performed annual branch audits. Her previous employers have included national brokerage firms such as Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Securities, and Prudential Securities.

Shelle is involved in all aspects of client service and leads our exceptionally dedicated team that strives to consistently exceed client expectations. She enjoys mentoring, problem-solving, finding ways to improve processes, and ultimately enhancing day-to-day experiences for both our staff and clients. Her dedication and organizational skills help to maintain our tight knit “family” work environment while ensuring a high level of accuracy and exceptional customer service.

When not in the office

Shelle enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. They enjoy hiking around the Sierra Foothills or its many nearby lakes. She enjoys traveling and typically finds herself enjoying a new experience every year. Shelle also enjoys gardening and working on home projects. One of the advantages of living in the Sierra Foothills is having access to beautiful wine country, where she and her husband love to visit some of their favorite wineries.


Shirley Burrows | Licensed Director of Client Services

Work Experience Prior to Joining Wetsel Financial

Shirley joined our team in 2019 bringing with her over 15 years of industry experience. She spent much of her career at Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc., San Francisco, where she serviced the corporate and retail needs of many of the top-tier Silicon Valley corporations and venture capital firms, working with high net-worth individuals and foundations handling the day-to-day complexities of wealth management.

She specialized in corporate stock repurchase programs, private placement programs, and execution of control stock trading by directors and 10% shareholders under Rule 144.

Role at Wetsel Financial

Shirley provides the highest level of client service in all areas of our team from on-boarding new accounts to handling service-related inquiries and trading. She specializes in resolving complex and time-sensitive client requests while servicing the daily needs of each portfolio. She applies her strong attention to detail to trading, monitoring accounts, and rebalancing client portfolios.

When not in the office

When not at work, Shirley spends quality time with her three children hiking the beautiful trails of Northern California, traveling whenever possible to other countries, and checking out the local delights too. Shirley resides in El Dorado Hills with her family.
